A New Canvas Imagination and light will bring Dubai Expo City to life this November when it plays host to the second edition of the Emirati-led light art exhibition, Dhai Dubai. The flagship event, presented in conjunction with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), promises to be an illuminating event at the famed Al Wasl Plaza. This promising showcase will feature the exceptional talents of seven Emirati artists from three generations. It is a celebration of how modern art draws from an older tradition and heritage in Dubai.
A Brilliant Exhibition of Glow and Culture
From November 12 to 18, 2025, visitors can attend the Dhai Dubai exhibition, which will feature seven new commissions from artists such as Fatma Lootah, Mohammed Kazem, Khalid AlBanna, Alia Bin Omair, AlZaina Lootah, Ahmed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, and Hessa Alghandi. The exhibition will convert the Al Wasl Plaza into an immersive experience in which light sculptures and projections will explore the spiritual, emotional, and artistic resonance of light within Emirati culture.
It is not just an exhibition of art. It is one where people can experience the art. The Al Wasl Plaza, with its futuristic 360 projection dome, will be a dynamic backdrop, enveloping audiences in a dazzling mix of light, sound, and movement – an experience that transforms into a walk-through gallery enabling some of the more familiar motifs and stories to come alive for audiences in the much more modern context.
Beyond Art: Nurturing a Creative Community
This year’s Dhai Dubai is expanding to include a series of artist talks and public dialogues. These will be organized at the House of Arts, the new cultural venue at Expo City Dubai. The exercise offers an excellent opportunity for the community to engage the artists, partaking in an understanding of their creative processes and how personal experiences translate into powerful public art.
The event epitomizes a shared vision between Expo City Dubai and Dubai Culture to ensure empowerment of local artists, nurturing creativity in the economy, and suitably placing Dubai on the global map in terms of arts development. By creating a platform for Emirati gusto to be expressed, Dhai Dubai displays more than what the city has to offer by way of rich heritage; it serves to inspire future generations to seek their own artistic language. Of course, the festival is free of charge, and for anyone interested in art, culture, and innovation, here’s yet another reason to make Dhai Dubai a must-see.
